The Problem
The traditional trucking ecosystem in Ghana is plagued with challenges that prevent truck owners from maximizing their investment returns.
Owners struggle with accountability, theft, and poor maintenance.
Trucks often generate inconsistent income due to lack of structured contracts.
Low Returns
Unreliable Drivers
Stress of Management
Owners must chase payments, handle breakdowns, and negotiate jobs.

Traditional Hiring Challenges
Limited Training and Education
Many local drivers lack formal education or professional training in logistics and transportation, which affects the efficiency and reliability of their services.
Operational Inefficiencies During Long Journeys
Drivers often make unscheduled stops during long-distance trips to refuel or top up trucks. These interruptions cause significant delays in delivery timelines and reduce overall service reliability.
Poor Communication and Lack of Oversight
There is no established company or regulatory body effectively monitoring drivers. As a result, communication is inconsistent, leading to coordination challenges and service gaps.
Excessive Charges Due to Intermediaries
The traditional system of hiring trucks involves committees and mediators who inflate costs. For example, renting a truck to Kumasi can range from 9,000 to 11,000 cedis. Beyond the driver's earning for the vehicle owner, drivers often add 2,000-3,000 cedis, while mediators add an additional 1,000 cedis or more. This pricing structure is unsustainable for the average Ghanaian and poses a major challenge for startups in the moving industry.
Lack of Punctuality and Scheduling Discipline
Drivers frequently fail to adhere to agreed timelines. Without organizational supervision or accountability structures, punctuality remains a persistent issue, undermining customer trust and satisfaction.
